At BetterGPT, your privacy is a top priority. This Chrome extension is designed to enhance your ChatGPT experience by detecting and displaying search queries in a convenient overlay. We are committed to protecting your data and ensuring a safe browsing experience.

1. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

  • No personal information is collected from users
  • No usage data or analytics are transmitted
  • No third-party integrations are involved

2. Data Processing

All processing occurs locally in your browser. The extension monitors network traffic only within the ChatGPT and Gemini domain (https://chatgpt.com, https://google.gemini.com/*) to detect search queries returned by ChatGPT. This information is processed in-memory and displayed on your screen. It is not saved or sent anywhere.

3. Permissions

The extension requires limited permissions to function:

  • activeTab: To interact with the ChatGPT tab
  • webRequest: To detect when search query metadata is received
  • storage: To temporarily store session data (only locally)

These permissions are restricted to https://chatgpt.com/* and https://google.gemini.com/* and are not used for tracking or any form of surveillance.

4. Third-Party Access

There is no third-party access to your data. We do not use or integrate with advertising networks, tracking services, or analytics providers.

5. Security

The extension’s codebase is fully open source and available for public inspection at the download page for the plugin. Users are encouraged to review the code to verify its functionality and safety.

6. Children’s Privacy

This extension does not target or knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13.
